Terms of Use

The rules and conditions governing access to and use of the ALPSPN Membership Verification Portal by registered members and the public.

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the ALPSPN Membership Verification & Good Standing Portal, including registration, membership management, payment of dues, document submission, and certificate verification services (collectively, the "Portal"), operated by the Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria ("ALPSPN", "we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Portal, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Portal.

1. Eligibility & Account Registration

Use of the ALPSPN Membership Verification Portal is restricted to licensed private security companies operating in Nigeria and their authorized representatives. By registering an account, you confirm that:

  • All information provided during registration is accurate, current, and complete
  • Your company holds a valid CAC registration and, where applicable, a valid NSCDC operating license
  • You are authorized to act on behalf of the company you are registering
  • You will promptly update your account if any registration information changes
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and 2FA device

2. Membership Status & Good Standing

Membership status (e.g. Good Standing, Pending Payment, Pending Documents, Under Review, Not in Good Standing, Suspended) is determined automatically by the portal based on payment records and document verification, and may also be set manually by authorized administrators following review.

  • Good Standing Certificates are issued only once all applicable dues are paid and required documents have been verified
  • Certificates remain subject to revalidation at any time; a previously issued certificate does not guarantee continued Good Standing status if compliance lapses
  • ALPSPN reserves the right to suspend or revoke membership status where false information, fraudulent documents, or non-compliance with association rules is discovered
  • The classification displayed on the public verification page reflects real-time status and supersedes any printed or downloaded certificate

3. Payments & Fees

Members are required to pay annual membership dues, state clearance fees, national clearance fees, and any applicable training levies as published on the portal.

  • All payments are processed through approved third-party payment gateways (including but not limited to Paystack, Flutterwave, and Credo); ALPSPN does not store your card or bank details
  • Fees are reviewed periodically and may be revised; changes apply to renewals processed after the effective date of the revision
  • Payments are generally non-refundable except where required by law or expressly approved by the National Secretariat in cases of duplicate or erroneous transactions
  • Failure to pay applicable dues will result in a change of membership status and may prevent issuance or renewal of your Good Standing Certificate

4. Document Submission & Verification

Members are required to upload accurate and valid supporting documents, including CAC certificates, NSCDC licenses, tax clearance certificates, insurance certificates, staff lists, and proof of office address.

  • Submission of forged, altered, or fraudulent documents is strictly prohibited and may result in immediate suspension and referral to relevant regulatory authorities
  • Document review typically takes 24–48 working hours but may take longer depending on volume or the need for additional clarification
  • ALPSPN reserves the right to request additional documentation or evidence to support any submission at any time

5. Certificate Verification & NSCDC Integration

The portal provides a real-time verification system enabling the public, clients, and Ministry/NSCDC officials to confirm the membership status and Good Standing Certificate validity of any registered company using a clearance reference number or QR code.

  • Certificate reference numbers are cryptographically generated and unique to each issuance; attempting to forge, duplicate, or alter a reference number is a violation of these Terms and may constitute a criminal offence under applicable Nigerian law
  • ALPSPN provides API access to the Ministry/NSCDC for the sole purpose of license renewal verification, and this integration may not be used for any other purpose without written authorization

6. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Provide false, misleading, or fraudulent information or documents
  • Attempt to access another member's account, data, or administrative functions without authorization
  • Circumvent, disable, or interfere with security features including two-factor authentication and audit logging
  • Use automated tools, scripts, or bots to scrape, query, or overload the portal or its API beyond normal usage
  • Misrepresent your membership status or alter a Good Standing Certificate
  • Use the portal for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable Nigerian law or regulation

Violation of this section may result in immediate suspension of your account, revocation of membership status, and, where applicable, referral to the NSCDC, the Nigeria Police Force, or other relevant authorities.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on the portal, including the ALPSPN name, logo, certificate designs, QR verification system, software, and underlying source code, is the property of ALPSPN or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from any portal content without prior written consent, except for the limited purpose of displaying your own issued Good Standing Certificate.

8. Limitation of Liability

The portal is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While ALPSPN takes reasonable steps to ensure accuracy, availability, and security of the platform, we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

  • ALPSPN is not liable for any loss or damage arising from delays in document review, payment processing issues attributable to third-party gateways, or temporary unavailability of the verification portal
  • Members are responsible for ensuring their compliance documents and license information remain valid and up to date; ALPSPN's classification engine reflects the information provided and verified at a given point in time
  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, ALPSPN's total liability for any claim arising from use of the portal shall not exceed the amount of fees paid by the member in the twelve months preceding the claim

9. Suspension & Termination

ALPSPN may suspend or terminate a member's account and access to the portal where there is reasonable cause to believe these Terms have been violated, where membership dues remain unpaid beyond the grace period, or where directed by a competent regulatory authority. Members may also request voluntary deactivation of their account by contacting the secretariat, subject to the data retention obligations described in our Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to These Terms

ALPSPN reserves the right to update or modify these Terms of Use at any time to reflect changes in our services, governance policies, or applicable law. Material changes will be communicated to members via email or a notice on the portal, along with the effective date. Continued use of the portal following such changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms of Use are governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of the portal shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Nigeria.

Questions About These Terms?

If you need clarification on any part of these Terms of Use, please reach out to the National Secretariat before continuing to use the portal.
